The Excel password manager spreadsheet helps you organize and keep track of your passwords used to log into your online accounts.

With the growth of the internet and online accounts, the number of passwords that you need to access theses accounts has increased. This is where a simple password management system is important to help you keep all your password organized. It is not just a password that you need to remember, it is the account or website associated with the password, the username, pins, security questions, and sometime additional login information.

It is important to have strong passwords to access your private information online. Whether you use your passwords to log into and gain access to your online shopping accounts, online banking and bill pay, retirement accounts, IRS accounts, or other online password protected sections of a website, it is important to create and use a good password to login to see your private information. It is also important to change your passwords on a time frame that you believe is necessary. With a good Excel password manager spreadsheet, you can keep all your passwords in one Excel file and not have to try to remember complex passwords in your head.

There are different ways to organize your passwords so you do not forget the passwords and so you do not loose them. If you loose your passwords, you will not be able to access your online accounts and will have to reset your passwords and create new login information. In the worst case scenario, you may be permanently unable to access your online account or may have to go through a long process of regaining access to your online account.

There are different options to organize your passwords and account login information.

One option is to write your account passwords down on a piece of paper and keep a password log. If you use this method you might also want to make sure that you keep the paper that the passwords are written on in a secure place that only you have access to.

Another option is online password keepers where you manage your passwords in a web based password keeping system.

Another option is to use desktop software specially designed to organize your passwords and many times these same password manager programs will also have password generators to help you create your passwords.

This last option is the Excel password manager spreadsheet where you use the Microsoft Excel program and a password manager spreadsheet template to manage your passwords and login credentials.

Because the Excel password manager spreadsheet is a single Excel file, you have you option of password protecting the Excel file. It you put on password on the Excel workbook, then every time you or someone else trying to open the Excel file, they must enter a password to access the contents of the Excel file. The password option to open an Excel file is an extra measure to protect the contents of the Excel file, however if you forget the password to the Excel file then you will not be able to open the Excel file and you will not be able to gain access to your passwords that stored in the Excel file. Also, like any password, there is a potential that someone could hack the password and gain access to the Excel file and hence gain access to all your passwords.

With the Excel password management software, you have to option of storing the Excel file locally on your computer or on a external storage device such as a USB flash drive. Also if you use OneDrive or DropBox, you can sync and store you Excel file online using one of those online file storage services. However, if you store the Excel file online, there is the potential that hacker could access the Excel file if they break into your online storage service accounts.

Another option with the Excel password spreadsheet template, is that you can enter your password information into the Excel file and print out the passwords on a piece of paper and then decide if you also want to save the Excel file with the passwords or just have the passwords on a printout. So the software is a printable password manager spreadsheet.

The Excel password manager template includes the following fields (columns) to organize your passwords:

  • Website: Where you can enter a link to the website that has you account that you want to access with a password
  • Username: Typically, in additional to a password, you have to create a username (sometime an email or phone number) to login
  • Password: Make sure to use a strong password. The longer and more complex the password (Including a combination of numbers, letters in upper and lower case, and special characters) the harder it will be for a hacker to figure out your password and break into your account. Its also important to use different passwords for each account so if someone breaks into one of your accounts they will not have access to all your accounts because you used different passwords.
  • Pin: Some online account also require or have the option to add to Pin number to access the online account.
  • Security Questions: Some online accounts have you create security questions to use in case in special cases such as when you need to reset your password
  • Password Create Date:
  • Password Last Changed:
  • Two Factor Authentication used:
  • Notes: Enter your own information related to the online account password.
